Dexter's Nursery

When we found out we were pregnant, one of the first things we started (okay maybe just me) thinking about was the nursery. Being that we are in a rental townhouse with a relatively small bedroom we were walking a line between wanting it to be cute and knowing it wasn't going to be his forever room. Instead of going with a specific animal or other theme, we stuck with the usual navy and white with a pop of green (seems to be a trend with us!) When we were working on picking out his quilt fabric at a store, the sales women told us that she thought it looked like colors and patterns right out of J. Crew or Pottery Barn. Which is pretty much what I was going for!

Dustin meticulously painted the crooked wall with the stripes, against his wishes. But it turned out great!! Some of the pieces we had purchased awhile back, like the crib and dresser, but we tried to make the little space we had work! We had some big splurges (glider chair) and made/refinished some things ourselves (bookshelf, nightstand), but overall it was really fun getting to prepare the space for Dex. We also have a few really special pieces that people made for us, which I hope he cherishes! I hope whenever he does sleep, play, and spend more time in there he enjoys it as much as we do. It is such a peaceful area that I spent much time in before his arrival <3.

The perfect and priceless quilt handmade by our good friend Helen Steffan <3 The quote on the back reads "Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid, for the lord your god is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9"

Crib from Target , Wooden letters from Etsy (came unfinished, painted with furniture color), crib skirt made by Kathie (Mimi) and Penguin mobile from Babies R Us

Penguin art by Kelly Borra, Bookcase handmade by Dustin - We have made a dent into those books already reading to him every day.

Anywhere chair from Pottery Barn Kids, Nightstand from my old bedroom; refinished, touch lamp from Target for easy late night feedings. I also have all of my feeding supplies and home pump in the nightstand.

Glider chair in Grey Velvet from Babies R Us

Dresser converted into a changing table from Target, we purchased the topper to hold the changing pad, but it took up the entire top of the dresser and didn't leave much space for anything else.

Wall art I made

Super packed (but organized I promise) closet

I should also mention we purchased the crib conversion kit, just in case when the time comes if they don't make it anymore- also from Target

Navy shag rug from Target, uber soft and fuzzy but hasn't vacuumed so well thus far
