Dexter's 1st Dino Birthday!

I still cannot believe our sweet boy is 1! (Well at this point he is 1+18 days) I have been simultaneously looking forward to this day/celebration and dreading it. What an amazing 365 days we have had with out little guy. From every small milestone, the many smiles, laughter, tears, a billion diapers, and lots and lots of love- we have enjoyed every second of it. Parenthood really changes you, for the better. I have done things I said I would never do, loved harder than I thought possible, learned something new every day, and never questioned myself more than I have. We are pretty darn lucky that this guy chose us to be his parents though <3

Dustin & I have always wanted to create some really fun traditions with our family. Birthdays are no different! Dexter woke up and was bombarded with lots of balloons in his crib (which he LOVED), had sprinkle pancakes with whipped cream for breakfast, and had some of his favorite foods throughout the day. This year his birthday also fell on Easter, so we went to church, participated in an egg hunt after church, had Easter dinner, went for a walk on his new trike, and had an egg hunt out back. It was a busy day!

The fam on Easter/Dexter's birthday
The following weekend we celebrated his birthday in true Dino fashion with family and friends. I had such a fun time planning everything and had LOTS of help (Shoutout to my mom/Mimi K, Dustin's mom/Gigi, Lydia, and Pinterest!)

The party invite was from Etsy, and other graphics I made on Canva - coolest website for graphics!
The Dino menu included:
-Herbivore valley (veggies and dip)
-Dino nuggets from Sams
-Dinosaur Eggs: Reese Eggs & HUGE grapes
-Dinosaur scales: wavy potato chips
-Dinosaur toe nails: Bugles
-Dinosaur bones: Yogurt coverent pretzels
-Dino-myte Punch: Lemonade, 2 packets lime kool aid, 1 can of pineapple juice, and Sprite
(additionally fruit, baked ziti, and buffalo chicken dip)

My mother in law made a BEAUTIFUL Dino cake that somehow tasted even better than it looked, and we topped it with homemade cake toppers. Mimi K made some cupcakes and Josh/Kelly frosted them!

I purchased most of the decor from Oriental Trading, and made some of it as well. The one balloon was from Target. Mimi slaved away making the adorable dino party hats, dinos in party hats, and 1 dino decor. We had a 'How do Dinosaurs Say Happy Birthday' book for people to sign as a guest book, Dinosaur masks, Party hats with dino spikes, mini dino figurines, and large dinos with hats for centerpieces. I also made a Triceratoss game using a posterboard, 3 party hats, and glow necklaces as rings. It was a pretty big hit! We had our shirts custom made from a local woman (they were PERFECT!)

Lisa also made adorable chocolate covered pretzels as favors that we topped with Canva tags. Dexter had such a wonderful time celebrating with everyone. We are so grateful to have such amazing people in our lives. Thanks again for helping us celebrate in person and from afar. We are pretty lucky!
